Metallic Rope – Modular Typeface Design
This project was all about exploring how typefaces are built — starting from scratch. The brief was to create a modular typeface, which pushed me to rethink how letterforms are constructed and how structure can be broken down and rebuilt.
Metallic Rope started as a set of hand-painted, teetering letterforms. I then took shape clippings from the originals and reassembled them using a modular system — turning something expressive into something systematic, without losing its edge.
The final outcome was showcased in an Instagram carousel — a full type system that balances rough, handmade energy with bold, repeatable structure. A real insight into how typefaces work — and how much you can bend the rules when you understand them.
